He knew i needed it.... and the "snack time bandit"!!!

 So you know what this pic means....Schools back in (by the way this our annual convocation pic.  Follow Kat and little Miss Addy G on their blog.)

So we all know that i've been a little sad about returning to work, and with open house on Thursday night, I was super sad... That is until i walked into Lanis daycare and she saw me.  She was sitting on her teachers lap, and got a huge smile.  she climbed down and got onto all fours.  After a few rocks she crawled right over to me... (Cue tears!!!!!) My baby crawled for the 1st time, and i was there to see it! God knew I needed that Ray of Sunshine in such a difficult week!!!  Now maybe if we are lucky she will let me record it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
our other news... it seems my child may be a little bit of a sticky fingers!!!
When i went to pick her up from school Wednesday, the teacher mentioned to me that we might want to send Lani finger foods.  Mind you, I haven't been giving her any finger foods, except for mum mums because she doesnt have any teeth....
Well apparently that wasnt enough, because VS appeared and took the other baby's finger foods.... (SO EMBARRASSED!) Her sweet teacher mentioned we may want to start sending Lani some snacks of her own.  That night i chopped up bananas and avocados in tiny chunks and they were a hit.
She like them so much that the teacher said she ate all of them the next day. An entire banana, 1/2 an avocado and her usual jar of baby food, cereal, and a few bottles in between.  Dont let the size fool you, GIRL CAN EAT!!!
Final Day of Summer :(
Today is my last day of summer vacation and I'm feeling a little heart broken.  Some things i will miss more than others, but for the most part I'm just going to miss everything.
 Today has been super emotional for me, including a few tears.  I think maybe if Lani was 100% well I would feel a little more relaxed, but the fact that she has this stinky rash from her antibiotics, and is still super cranky makes me sad. I guess its just a part of being a mom, even though i know shes still in good hands, i just want to be with her....
I know i should be thankful that i got to spend the last 2 months with her,  but it truly went by way to fast. She is growing so big, and the next vacation i have, we will be preparing for her first thanksgiving, Christmas, and birthday....
Dear Lani~
You are the best thing I've ever done, and my favorite person in the world.  You have brought so much joy to my life, and my heart is breaking thinking that i wont get to see your sweet smile all day.  thank you for being such a wild, crazy, loving, beautiful part of my life. You make me strive to be a better woman, mother and wife.  I love you babydoll.
Not so Lucky Number 7 ....... (Month Update)
Wednesday Lani officially turned 30 weeks and a pretty crummy...
It began with mommy having to go in to work for a while so my cousin was going to watch Lani.  I hand Lani to her and go to finish getting dress, when what do i hear... my baby SCREAMING!!!!  She has fallen off the couch... Her first fall off of anything might I add... Now in my cousin's defense she was trying to get Lani to take a nap by laying with her on the couch... Needless to say this was not very comforting to mommy...
FAST FWD TO FOUR PM....
Lani  has a low fever and is rubbing her gums... ok its a teething fever.  i give her a little Tylenol and she seems fine for a while but then starts SCREAMING!!!  I ask when was her last nap? Only to find out she hasn't had a nap today.... Ahhhhhh ..... Sound the Crazy Mommy Alarm... I'm officially pissed.... My cousin says my bro in law woke her, he says she told him to move her, and some how all this adds up to my baby not having a nap ALL DAY!!!. I give her a lavender bath and get her to take a nap for about an hour, when my mom calls to tell me my cousins are in town from D.C. I take Lani over for her to meet them and things seem to be going fine, until suddenly she becomes very irritable. I pick her up, and she is on fire. I'm looking everywhere in the baby bag for her thermometer, but cant find it and no one has one.  I give her some Tylenol and ice water, and wait for her to calm down some before driving home.  I get to the house and check her temp to find out its a 103 degrees.   Panic Officially Begins! We check 2 more times with the temporal scanner and once with an anal temp all reading between 102-103... we call the Dr and he tells us to go straight to the emergency room.  After about an hour of waiting we find out she has a double ear infection and some viral infection.  her only symptom that we could see or tell was a few boogies in the nose : (
its around 11:00 at this point and we still have to find the 24 hour pharmacy... what a start to month 7!!!
5 question friday
1. Did you have a favorite blanket or toy as a kid? If so, do you still have it? not that i remember.  i did collect Holiday Barbie dolls and my mom has saved them all for Lani.  We just need a bigger house, so we have room to display them for her
2. Do you dream in color? yes i do.  my dreams are  in color and i am the omni-character, so basically i'm whoever is talking at the moment.  but i see my self and everyone in the dream, so its not seem from my point of view.  i had a talk with someone about this before and they tried to analyze it for me but i forgot what all they said.
3. How tall are you? Do you wish you were shorter or taller? 5ft even.... and yes "I wish i was a little bit taller. I wish i was a baller..." lol. jk. but i would like to be about 5'5".  I think that would make it so much easier to by jeans, capris (it always looks like im flooding) and knee length skirts.  they are just never at the right length
4. If you could have anyone's (celeb or other) voice as the guide on your GPS, who would it be? James Earl Jones. Couldn't you imagine Mufasa telling you to "make a right, your destination is in 100 ft." lol... ok maybe thats just me...lol... but i call the lady on my GPS Sara.  She sounds like a Sara to me
5. Do you return your shopping cart to the corral or leave it wherever in the parking lot? Depends on how far away i parked from the corral. but honestly i appreciate when there is a basket right in front of my parking spot.  That way i can just pop lani in and keep it moving!
Top 2 Tuesday
Top 2 Favorite perfumes/colognes/scents....
I love perfume. this was really hard for me, because i grew up with a mother whose closet could double as a perfume counter (and shoe store, and clothes store). However, most bug my allergies. Of course i love the regulars from Victoria's Secret (very sexy, angel, ect.) but my favorites are....
1. Angel would be first.  it smells like chocolate... yum right? i know... i just love the way it smells. its been a favorite since i was a teenager.
2. There would be a close tie for second place between Chloe Narcisse and YSL Babydoll. I actually wore Chloe on my wedding day. Something about that smell just makes me feel beautiful and grown up.
And i just love the bottle for Babydoll.  Couldn't you see Carrie Bradshaw using that bottle of perfume. So sophisticated and sassy at the same time.  So what are your favorite scents.
Filling up the love tank (inspiring story for married folk included)!!!
So everyone knows I'm a Real Housewives fan. And by fan I mean I watch every season...
Some of you remember when Vicki talked about her "love tank"... Often in marriage we get so caught up in our careers and own lives, and sometimes keeping our heads above water and surviving the day, that we forget to be there for our partners.  And by be "there" i don't mean physically in the same room. I mean emotionally supportive, spiritually connected and guided, mentally connected and supportive, and yes, of course, physically connected too.  Sometime we are not reaching all of these parts in a marriage, and you hope that where one partner lacks, the other one fills in.  As someone who had been in a relationship with my husband for 10 years, I can tell you that at times we forget to fill in, and sometimes leave our love tank on "E". Now much like a car, relationships will only go so far on "E" before dying all together.  Its so important that we keep up the maintenance of our relationships, and that we actually ask our partner how and if we could be a better partner.  I'm guessing 9 times out of 10 there is something we can improve on.
One day i was driving and heard "Crawl" by Chris Brown and was literally brought to tears. I thought of the struggles in my own marriage and how we had changed over time. More so I thought about our future.
***Note: Watch until atleast 1:20 before continuing to read!
  I decided that I could be sad with the way things were going or do something about it, and we did.
One thing that we had to learn as a couple was that there was nothing wrong with asking for outside help and support. While reading a post on my friend's facebook page i got to thinking how lucky Sean and I were to have figured out we needed help before our story ended horribly. So read the story, and let me know what your reflections... is your love tank on full???
"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."
MARRIAGE
When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I've got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes.
Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly.
She didn't seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why?
I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man! That night, we didn't talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer; she had lost my heart to Jane. I didn't love her anymore. I just pitied her!
With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company.
She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved Jane so dearly. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now.
The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didn't have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Jane.
When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again.
In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn't want anything from me, but needed a month's notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we both struggle to live as normal a life as possible. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a month's time and she didn't want to disrupt him with our broken marriage.
This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day.
She requested that every day for the month's duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door ever morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request.
I told Jane about my wife's divorce conditions. . She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully.
My wife and I hadn't had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mommy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly; don't tell our son about the divorce. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove alone to the office.
On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest. I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn't looked at this woman carefully for a long time. I realized she was not young any more. There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her.
On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me.
On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. I didn't tell Jane about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger.
She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why I could carry her more easily.
Suddenly it hit me... she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart. Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head.
Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, it's time to carry mom out. To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly; it was just like our wedding day.
But her much lighter weight made me sad. On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly and said, I hadn't noticed that our life lacked intimacy.
I drove to office.... jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind...I walked upstairs. Jane opened the door and I said to her, Sorry, Jane, I do not want the divorce anymore.
She looked at me, astonished, and then touched my forehead. Do you have a fever? She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Jane, I said, I won't divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn't value the details of our lives, not because we didn't love each other anymore. Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart.
Jane seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away.
At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote, I'll carry you out every morning until death do us apart.
That evening I arrived home, flowers in my hands, a smile on my face, I run up stairs, only to find my wife in the bed - dead.
My wife had been fighting CANCER for months and I was so busy with Jane to even notice. She knew that she would die soon and she wanted to save me from the whatever negative reaction from our son, in case we push thru with the divorce.-- At least, in the eyes of our son--- I'm a loving husband....
The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, property, the money in the bank. These create an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves. So find time to be your spouse's friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage!
A CHRIST-CENTERED MARRIAGE IS A MARRIAGE THAT IS SURE TO LAST A LIFETIME.
So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate. Matthew 19:6
THE #1 STEAK HOUSE IN THE COUNTRY
I know we sound like some fatties blogging about a steak house, but sean has seriously talked about this place since we first met 10 years ago.  And when food network also stated it was the #1 steak house in the country, the story and legends just got even more myth like (somewhat like the chupacabra i saw running near our house but that will have to be another post!)... All day we heard the count down.  Random outburst of hours mostly ..."9 hours and counting" .... "6 hours and counting"... "1 hour and 42 minutes"...  "as soon as you are ready we are out of here"...
He was so excited that we thought he might explode on the ride down.
Notice the Laptop... He wanted to have a special music playlist for the road to cattlemans (*cough "Dork" *Cough)...He reminded me of a kid on the way to chuck e cheese.
Now i must admit the road to Cattleman some what reminded me of a previous creepy drive in my past. And since we was obviously not proposing again, i had to figure we were really going to a restaurant.  I'm sure i saw a tumbleweed or two... but  way off in the distance something began to appear ...
Now there were a few unsavory guards as we entered,
but i'm guessing we past the check, because they let us in.
We took a few family pics.
Then he had a quick ego trip and only wanted pics alone..... what-eva
LMAO... After he finished with his "me moment" we had the most amazing diner ever.
So this amazing "Cowboy" steak that i had heard of really existed and was just as big as he said
While we were driving home Sean handed me a paper bag and asked me to "throw it out the window."
When I asked what it was he told me to look inside and this is what a found...
A necklace I had been looking at in the gift shop.  It was the perfect ending to a great night!!!
