Uncle B

Sean's brother Brian has been staying with us for the past 2 weeks, while he has been in between sessions at Art School. It has been such a joy having him and he has literally gotten the ball rolling on many of our partially done tasks...

 (he was fixing the lights in the yard when it started to rain, so he just got an umbrella and kept on)

(also notice the mail box and the nice green grass, yeah he did that too)

and although Lani was a little suspicious of him at first...

they are best buds now!!!

 I'm starting to think we should change his name Super Uncle. 

He has played the role of a brother, a friend, an uncle, a comedian, a protector, a confidant, a mediator, a babysitter, a repair man, and everything we never knew we needed in our home right now!

We will really miss him when he moves into his new place, but are glad to know that he will only be a phone call away!

Wishful Wednesday ....Lost

'I wish' .... I hadn't lost my mind.....

Ok so maybe it isnt completely lost, but it is a bit dishoveled. 

I mean when i was pregnant i heard about pregnancy brain, but no one told me that it never really returns to normal. To my defense, I no longer put random things in the refrigerator (i.e. the phone). But i will walk to the kitchen or bedroom numerous times with no idea of what i went to the room for.

So what have you lost?

1. What is your favorite thing about summertime?
Grilling with the fam and cocktails on the patio! their is nothing better than hanging on a patio with your friends and family, laughing, talking, and relaxing

2. What is your ideal retirement location (if money didn't matter)?
Honestly, a house on lake Nacogdoches.  wth... i know, but i absolutely love the country.  small time life is so easy and relaxed. I would love to have a cabin style house, with lots of land around it, and the back yard facing the lake! 


3. Do you live in the same town you grew up in?
I can do you one better. I live in the same house that i grew up in (for the most part)  My parents lived here from the time i was in 3rd grade until 7th grade.  The rented the house out after we moved out, and when i graduated from college and began teaching i bought it! In fact Lani's nursery is my old room!


4. What nervous habit did you have as a child that you kicked to the curb before becoming an adult?
I had a stutter. sometimes when i'm nervous, and talk too fast, it comes back. 

5. What is the most embarrassing thing that happened to you while on the job?
My first year teaching i was teaching a lesson on the Doppler effect (how sounds get louder the closer they get and softer the further the get).  My example was a fire truck.  So remember that stutter, well sometimes i juxtapose words too.  So instead of fire truck i said  tire @#$@!!! i couldn't even continue because i was so embarrassed and the kids were laughing so hard.  I had to step out of the room for a second just to gather my composure again.  needless to say i was very careful when i said fire truck for the rest of the day

So Sean has to work fathers day so we celebrated this weekend!!!

I wasn't sure what to get him, so i just asked, and this is what he asked for....

So I was super excited when i found one "mistakenly" marked $300 off of the regular price. So i bought it  right away, only to find out it was marked correctly, and all the other ones were marked wrong.  I haven't yet broken the news to him.  But despite the discrepancy,  its still an awesome grill. It has a rotisserie and a smoker. 

We also got all the tools so he could feel like a real cook! He grilled his first meal on Sunday, while we watched the Lakers game.  I meant to take pics, but totally forgot.  I will have to take some next time. Maybe we will grill again when his fam comes to visit. 

5 question friday

1. What do you think makes a good friend, or friendship?

Honesty. Its so hard to find honest people these days. Sometimes the people you think are most trustworthy can be liars. I come to a point in my life where i take a lot of things with a grain of salt.  You can call me jaded but I just dont care for fakeness


 

2. What is the last thing you bought & later regretted?

probably ice cream on Wednesday.  I had been doing pretty good on my diet but that damn frosty @ Wendy's was calling my name. it had chocolate chip cookie dough mixed in, well mostly choc chips which pissed em off a little, but it was so good considering it was 100 degrees out side

3. Have you ever had a prank played on you?

so when sean and i were in college, he and his roommate went on this spree of punking people.  so he decided to tell me that while we were broken up, the girl he dated got pregnant, and he would like for us to raise the kid together (mind you he wakes me up at two in the am to tell me this, so i didnt realize it was april fools day) well after a bit of attitude and cursing, he told me it a was joke so i was on a mission to spread the love.  so we (sean myself and his roommate) got in the car and went over to my bestfriends apartment.  I call her, pretending to be crying, from the car and tell her that i think sean is cheating and i want her to go over to the house with me.  She says ok, and i tell her i'm on the way over.  A few minutes later sean walks up and rings her door bell and tells her that we had been arguing and that he left the house and needed to talk ( mind u she doesnt know we are down stairs).  She lets him in and he asks to use the restroom (which is in her room).  So a few minutes later i walk into her apartment and scream what the heck, sean's car is in the parking lot, i think he's dating someone over here.  before she can explain she walks out of the bathroom in his underware and starts to hug her and try and kiss her...... at this point i cant keep from laughing so i cover my face and pretend that im crying.  Seans room mate walks in and is like "i'm so disappointed in you."  I'm still pretending to cry... sean is like" we have to quit lying. we must tell ash the truth!" she is freaking out and trying to explain to me. so i take off running out the apartment.  she follows me trying to explain while sean is still yelling i love you (mind you the neighbors are watching now).  We get 1/2 down the block and turn around and yell you've been punked!!! Needless to say she was super piss, but ready to spread the love as well.

4. What is your favorite theme park?

I love theme parks and the aquarium, and seaworld blends the two perfectly.  I could literally go to the aquarium on a daily basis.  Every since i found out that you could spend the night at sea world i've been trying to figure out how i could convince my principal we need to take a field trip there...



 

5. Have you ever seen someone else give birth? 

actually yes. I was in the room when my sister gave birth to my youngest niece/ god daughter.  I remember being in shock because the doctor was trying to move the skin around the baby's head and it literally reminded me of driving an old school Buick (the ones with no power steering)... that was seriously birth control for me.  it was 5 years before i decided to have one of my own. 

Wishful Wednesday ....Career

'I wish' .... I had the opportunity to change careers and it would be to become a .....

Ok so we all know that there is never just one answer to my questions. So it would only be fitting that i would have multiple careers. 

1. 
   
   I would Love Love Love to be a photographer.  Especially baby pics.  I am constantly trying to take unique or intresting pics, and my ultimate goal is to get a really snazzy camera and professional camera (note: Sean I love my current Snazzy camera but i need a professional one too!)

2. Become an event planner! I love weddings and parties and i'm always trying to think ahead for the next big event... I had my weddign theme and idea planned by the first week, "old Hollywood Glamor"

 i mean Lani's 1st day is 7 months away and i already have a theme and some favors. 

 Heres a hint ...

3. Own my own company!!! this one i'm excited to say is already in the works with little miss sass-a-frass. It is a company i started with my friend Katrina.  We make baby accessories.  My goal is that we will be able to one day do this full time so i can spend more time with my Lani!

So Miss Langston is loving her food. Infact girly isnt really a fan of her bottle anymore. but she doesnt seem to think she needs mommy's help any more. as i feed her she just takes over like "i got this mom!"

1. If you could go back to college would you change your major? Or, if you were to go to college right now...what major would you choose?
nursing. well if i wasn't afraid of needles. but i love taking care of people and helping them to feel better

2. What do you love most about your home?
that its mine. i bought it from my parents when i first started teaching and it just holds a special place to me... my old room is now Lani's room. and it was just the right size for a young family

3. What types of books do you like to read (if you like to read at all)?
right now childrens books. i buy a few new ones every so often for bed time with lani

4. What is the grossest thing you've ever eaten?
hmmmmmmm.... im going to go with gum... seriously... even the smell makes me nauseated

5. If you HAD to be a character on a TV show, whom would you be?
probably Lauren Conrad on the original hills. great friends, design school, internship at a magazine ... what a great start to adulthood

Now dont get me wrong there is something i love about every character... but Ms. Carrie is my celebrity role model!!!
