What We've been up to...

I would love to say its been a super exciting a and busy summer, but truthfully, it hasn't.
For the most part its been Lani and I hanging out with my mom, and us cracking up about how silly Lani is.
Watching her run around and act goofy; including her yelling "beep beep" whenever anyone gets in her way.

But there have been somethings i've been meaning to post about:

         ~ Goodbye Bailey
~ Cheer Camp/ return to coaching
         ~  Apple
        ~ The Brown Wedding
         ~ Water Baby
         ~ SAHM
~ Visit from Dea (which is now plural since she will be back tomorrow and i still havent posted from the last one)
~ Tuesday/Thursday girls day with my mom

I know i've really been slacking on the posts, but being a SAHM (just for the summer) is exhausting

1. If your husband had the BIG V and you got pregnant what would your first reaction be? i would want the dr to recheck!!! but at this point nothing surprises me as i know 3 people who got preggo with a mirena... looks like i may be searching for a new form of bc

2. Best memory about this summer so far.
i would have to say my family reunion.  its always great to see family and spend time with them.  i just wish we were able to do it more often

3. How often do you change your sheets? Your kids sheets?
every other week. lani's hardly ever, since she never sleeps in her bed!

4. Having just gone through TSA, would you rather have a full-body scan or a pat-down?
full body scan. if i'm getting felt up it better be by my husband, a massage therapist, or a dr!!!

5. Since it is fair time...what's your favorite fair (county or state) memory?
i would say getting a fried cheesecake and corn on the cob when i was preggo! it was hot as all get out and super crowded, but totally worth it!

18 & Some!!!

So as I was looking for the last update to see what changed, I realized i never posted one last month.

So my baby girl has been getting so big.
She is super talkative and we are making a brave attempt at potty training.

She is super busy, and always into something!
she loves to dance and is constantly playing in her kitchen!
She has 10 teeth (and one peeking through), and im pretty sure i have dealt with each of them cutting through right now.

Those lovely allergies are starting to make their presence again, and have lead to one round of antibiotics and i'm pretty sure after today's appointment will lead to one more.

she loves to sing:
itsy bitsy (spider), whoa whoa whoa, bubba bubba (baby bumble bee), tinka tinka (twinkle twinkle)

she loves to jump in the bed, will spin in circles for ever, and is super independent.  she loves to do things and fix things herself.

the dr decided to wait on the antibiotics today, and just up her allergy meds for a little while.  She said lani is now in the 15th percentile which is awesome since she was in the 1st percentile at birth.  She currently weighs 20lbs and is 31 inches long.  (big difference from 5lbs 10oz and 16 in at birth)

im sure there is a lot  more that im missing but i will be sure to keep you updated

5 question friday!!!!

1. Do you think cursive writing is overrated? (Schools in Indiana have now voted to take teaching cursive writing out of their curriculum.)
ok so im torn on this one!!! while i think  handwriting is crucial (as a teacher sometimes reading kids handwriting is like trying to decode secret messages), im  not sure cursive is needed.  But then again they would need to know cursive to create a signature... but then again as we move further into the digital world most things online you just type your initials to "sign".... see very torn
2. Do you still use a pocket calendar or notepad or do you keep your info on your smart phone?
totally on my smart phone; but i use the sticky note and calendar apps in my phone if that helps

3. What 3 things would you save if your house was burning down? (family & pets are already safe) my camera, Lani's sleepy bear, and my cell phone

4. Country Mouse or City Mouse, err Person? oooh depends on the day!!! i love the idea of country life and have blogged before about moving back to nacogdoches (aka never never land), but there is nothing like big city shopping!

5. If you could pick ANY reality show to go on, which would you pick? Hands down keeping up with the kardashians!!! love that family, their craziness totally reminds me of my fam!

Long Time No Blog~

i know its been a while since i've posted but i've had alot going on.  a friend sent me this poem "the dash!"
i found it inspiring and very thought provoking.  i hope it can inspire some of you as well!

Here is the poem typed out but the link is much better:

The Dash Poem

by Linda Ellis
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end
He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years
For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life’s actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?
